charcuterie board for two - featured image

A low-effort, high-reward charcuterie board designed for two people who want to unwind, connect, and eat something delicious without any fuss. This board comes together in under 10 minutes with simple ingredients for a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz Brie or Camembert
  • 4 oz Aged Cheddar
  • 2 oz Blue Cheese (like Gorgonzola or Roquefort)
  • 4 slices Prosciutto
  • 4 oz Salami (like Genoa or Soppressata)
  • 1/4 cup Dried Figs or Apricots
  • 1/4 cup Roasted and Salted Almonds
  • 1/4 cup Cornichons or Pickled Onions
  • 2 tbsp Honey or Fig Jam
  • 1 small Baguette, sliced and toasted
  • 1 handful of Crackers (like water crackers or rosemary crackers)

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Cheeses (5 minutes): Take your cheeses out of the fridge 15-20 minutes before you plan to serve them. Slice your aged cheddar into thin triangles or small cubes. Leave the brie whole. Crumble or slice the blue cheese into a small pile.
  2. Toast the Baguette (5 minutes): Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the baguette on a bias into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Arrange them on a baking sheet, brush lightly with olive oil, and sprinkle with a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the edges are just golden. Let them cool completely.
  3. Arrange the Big Items First (2 minutes): Place your ramekins of honey and cornichons on the board first. Then, place your cheeses. Put the brie on one side of the board and the cheddar on the opposite side. The blue cheese can go in the middle or on a corner.
  4. Add the Meats (2 minutes): Fold your prosciutto slices into loose ribbons or waves. Place them next to the brie. Arrange the salami slices in a small, overlapping pile or fan them out like a deck of cards near the cheddar.
  5. Fill in the Gaps (3 minutes): Start filling the empty spaces on the board with your accompaniments. Create small clusters of almonds. Pile the dried figs in another spot. Tuck the toasted baguette slices and crackers into any remaining gaps until no bare wood is showing.
  6. Drizzle and Garnish (1 minute): Just before serving, take your honey or fig jam and drizzle a little over the top of the brie. If you have any fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme, tuck a sprig or two in between the items for a pop of green.
  7. Serve Immediately: Place the board in the center of the table with two small plates, two napkins, and two forks (for the cheese).

Notes

Serve cheese at room temperature for best flavor. The pickles/cornichons are essential as a palate cleanser. Don’t overcrowd the board; arrange big items first, then fill gaps. For a vegetarian version, skip the meat and add marinated artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, olives, and fresh mozzarella balls.
