A visually stunning and incredibly simple Halloween punch that uses dry ice to create dramatic, rolling fog. This kid-friendly, five-ingredient recipe delivers maximum spooky effect with minimum effort, perfect for any Halloween gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) cranberry juice
  • 2 cups (480 ml) pineapple juice
  • 1 cup (240 ml) orange juice
  • 2 cups (480 ml) lemon-lime soda (e.g., Sprite or 7Up)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) simple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • 23 pounds (9001400 grams) dry ice
  • Food-safe gloves
  • Plastic punch cups

Instructions

  1. Chill all ingredients: At least 2 hours before serving, refrigerate cranberry juice, pineapple juice, orange juice, and lemon-lime soda.
  2. Prepare the dry ice: About 30 minutes before serving, put on gloves and unwrap the dry ice block. Place it on a thick towel, cover with another towel, and use a hammer to break it into golf ball-sized pieces.
  3. Mix the juice base: In a large pitcher, combine chilled cranberry juice, pineapple juice, and orange juice. Stir gently. Add simple syrup if desired. This mixture can be refrigerated for up to 4 hours.
  4. Set up the punch bowl: Place the punch bowl on a sturdy, protected table. Leave about 3 inches of space at the top.
  5. Add the juice mixture: Pour the chilled juice blend into the punch bowl.
  6. Add the soda: Just before serving, pour in the chilled lemon-lime soda and stir gently.
  7. Add the dry ice: Using tongs, carefully drop the dry ice pieces into the punch bowl. The fog will start immediately.
  8. Wait for the fog to settle: After about a minute, the fog will start rolling over the edges. This is the perfect time for photos.
  9. Stir occasionally: Every 10-15 minutes, gently stir the punch with a ladle to redistribute the dry ice and maintain consistent fog.

Notes

Never touch dry ice with bare skin; always use tongs or gloves. Never seal the container as pressure can build up. Do not add dry ice too early; the fog effect peaks in the first 15 minutes. Break dry ice into similar-sized pieces for consistent fog. Keep a backup plan if dry ice is unavailable. For adult version, add alcohol after dry ice has fully sublimated.
