This easy, one-bowl Christmas Chex Mix combines buttery ranch seasoning with crunchy cereal, pretzels, cheese crackers, and festive M&Ms for a quick, crowd-pleasing holiday snack that comes together in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 9 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 2 cups mini pretzel twists
  • 2 cups cheese crackers (like Goldfish or Cheez-Its)
  • 1 cup salted butter (2 sticks, melted)
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 packets (1 ounce each) ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 2 cups red and green M&Ms
  • 1 cup holiday-colored candy melts or white chocolate chips (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F.
  2. Combine all the dry ingredients (except the M&Ms and candy melts) in your largest mixing bowl: Rice Chex, Corn Chex, mini pretzels, and cheese crackers. Gently toss to distribute evenly.
  3. Melt the butter in a small microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals until completely melted. Do not let it boil.
  4. Whisk the Worcestershire sauce, both packets of ranch seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using) into the melted butter until smooth.
  5. Pour the butter mixture over the dry ingredients in a steady stream while stirring, or use your hands to toss everything together until evenly coated.
  6. Spread the mixture onto a prepared rimmed baking sheet in an even layer. Do not pack it down.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, then stir the mixture, moving outer pieces toward the center and vice versa.
  8. Bake for another 10-15 minutes, until the cereal pieces are lightly golden. The mix will still feel slightly soft but will firm up as it cools.
  9. Let the mix cool completely on the baking sheet, at least 30 minutes.
  10. Once completely cool, transfer to a large serving bowl, stir in the red and green M&Ms. If using candy melts, melt according to package directions and drizzle over the top. Let the drizzle set before serving (about 15 minutes in the fridge).

Notes

Let the melted butter cool for a minute or two before whisking in seasonings to avoid soggy cereal. Stir halfway through baking to ensure even browning. Cool completely before adding M&Ms to prevent melting. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free pretzels and cheese crackers. For a dairy-free version, use vegan butter and skip the cheese crackers.
