These firecracker jalapeño bacon-wrapped cream cheese hot dogs combine smoky, spicy, and creamy flavors wrapped in crispy bacon, perfect for quick weeknight dinners or casual entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard hot dogs (about 12 oz or 340 g total)
  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 23 fresh medium-sized jalapeños, finely diced (remove seeds for less heat)
  • 8 oz (225 g) softened full-fat cream cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • Optional: ½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Toothpicks or kitchen twine for securing bacon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with foil. Place a wire rack on the sheet if available for even cooking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, finely diced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and shredded cheddar if using. Mix until smooth and well blended.
  3. Score each hot dog lengthwise down the center, creating a pocket without cutting all the way through.
  4. Stuff each hot dog pocket with the jalapeño cream cheese mixture using a small spoon or piping bag. Fill generously but avoid overstuffing.
  5. Wrap one slice of thick-cut bacon tightly around each stuffed hot dog. Secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine.
  6. Place the bacon-wrapped hot dogs on the wire rack over the baking sheet to allow air circulation and even crisping.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, turning once halfway through, until bacon is crispy and hot dogs are heated through. Watch closely in the last 5 minutes to prevent burning.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Carefully remove toothpicks or twine.

Notes

Use thick-cut bacon to prevent shrinking and falling off during baking. Score hot dogs deeply enough to hold filling but not all the way through to avoid breaking. Soften cream cheese to room temperature for easier mixing. Use a wire rack for even bacon crisping or flip halfway through baking if no rack is available. Tent with foil if bacon crisps too fast to avoid burning. For dairy-free, substitute cream cheese and bacon with plant-based alternatives. Remove jalapeño seeds or substitute with mini sweet peppers for less heat.
