A festive and easy-to-make layered jello shot recipe featuring cherry red, creamy white, and blueberry blue layers topped with whipped cream. Perfect for patriotic celebrations and parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package cherry or strawberry flavored gelatin (3 oz)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup vodka or water (for non-alcoholic)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, chilled
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 package blueberry or berry-flavored gelatin (3 oz)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup vodka or water (optional)
  • Whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
  • Fresh blueberries or red sprinkles for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Gelatin Layer: In a medium bowl, dissolve the cherry gelatin powder into 1 cup boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved (about 2 minutes). Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/4 cup vodka or water and mix well. Pour about 1 oz of the mixture into each shot cup, filling them about one-third full. Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes until the layer is firm but not fully set.
  2. Make the Creamy White Layer: While the red layer chills, beat the softened cream cheese in a bowl until smooth (about 2-3 minutes). In a separate chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese until combined and fluffy.
  3. Layer the White Cream: Spoon or pipe the creamy mixture over the red gelatin layer, filling the cups another third. Smooth the top gently with a small spatula. Return to the fridge for 30 minutes to allow the layer to set slightly.
  4. Prepare the Blue Gelatin Layer: Dissolve the blueberry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stirring until clear. Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/4 cup vodka or water. Let it cool to room temperature but don’t let it set. Pour this over the white layer, filling to the top of the cup.
  5. Chill Completely: Refrigerate the layered shots for at least 2-3 hours or until fully set.
  6. Top with Whipped Cream: Just before serving, add a dollop of whipped cream on each jello shot. Garnish with a blueberry or red sprinkle for that festive pop.

Notes

Cool each gelatin layer adequately before pouring the next to avoid mixing colors. Use a spoon to pour layers gently. For faster setting, briefly chill in the freezer but avoid freezing solid. Prepare a day ahead for best flavor and texture. For dairy-free, substitute cream cheese with vegan cream cheese and heavy cream with coconut whipped cream. For alcohol-free, replace vodka with water or juice.
