These fun candy corn rice krispie treats are the kind of recipe that makes you look like a kitchen hero without breaking a sweat. They’re perfect for Halloween parties, classroom celebrations, or just a silly Tuesday afternoon when you want to make the kids smile.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 package (10 ounces) regular marshmallows (about 40 large marshmallows)
  • 6 cups rice krispie cereal
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prep your pan. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving about 2 inches of overhang on two sides. Lightly grease the parchment with a thin layer of butter or nonstick spray.
  2. Melt the butter. Place the 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a large pot over low heat. Let it melt slowly—about 2 minutes.
  3. Add the marshmallows. Dump the entire 10-ounce bag of marshmallows into the pot. Stir constantly with a silicone spatula until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth—about 5 minutes. Keep the heat low.
  4. Stir in the vanilla and salt. Add the 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Stir for another 30 seconds until combined.
  5. Add the cereal. Remove the pot from the heat. Pour in the 6 cups of rice krispie cereal all at once. Fold gently until the cereal is evenly coated—about 1 minute.
  6. Fold in the candy corn. Add 1 cup of candy corn to the pot. Fold it in gently, just until distributed—about 30 seconds.
  7. Transfer to the pan. Scrape the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula or greased hands to press it into an even layer.
  8. Let them cool. Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
  9. Cut and serve. Lift the parchment paper handles to remove the block of treats from the pan. Cut into squares using a sharp knife, wiping the knife between cuts with a damp paper towel.

Notes

Keep heat low when melting marshmallows to prevent grainy texture. Add candy corn off the heat to avoid melting. For clean cuts, wipe knife between slices. Treats can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
