These mummy hot dog bites are a fun, quick, and budget-friendly Halloween treat that kids love. Made with crescent rolls and hot dogs, they’re perfect for parties or a themed dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8-count) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 8 beef or turkey hot dogs
  • 16 candy eyeballs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Ketchup (for serving, optional)
  • Yellow mustard (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough. Press the perforations together gently to form one large rectangle.
  3. Cut the dough lengthwise into 8 even strips, each about 1 inch wide.
  4. Wrap one strip of dough around a hot dog at a slight angle, leaving a small gap (about ¼ inch) between each wrap. Leave a bit of hot dog exposed at each end for the ‘face’ and ‘feet’.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush the egg wash over each mummy.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  8. Immediately after baking, press two candy eyes onto the ‘head’ end of each mummy while the dough is still warm and tacky.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack if desired.
  10. Optional: Pipe yellow mustard in squiggly lines over the dough for extra detail.

Notes

For best results, leave a visible gap between dough wraps to achieve a bandaged look. Add candy eyes within 30 seconds of removing from the oven to ensure they stick. If dough tears, press it back together with fingers. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free crescent roll dough and hot dogs.
