These spooky white chocolate popcorn hands are the perfect last-minute Halloween party treat. They look like you spent hours, taste incredible, and are guaranteed to get a delighted, slightly horrified reaction from your guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups popped popcorn (plain, unsalted, unbuttered)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (flaky sea salt preferred)
  • Disposable food-grade gloves
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Pop your popcorn and remove any unpopped kernels. You want 8 cups of popped popcorn. Spread the popcorn out on your baking sheet and pick through it carefully.
  2. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Set it aside for now.
  3. Melt the white chocolate chips and coconut oil together in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until smooth and slightly runny (about 2 minutes total).
  4. Pour the melted white chocolate over the popcorn. Use a spatula to gently fold the popcorn and chocolate together until every piece is coated, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Let the mixture cool for 5 minutes until it is tacky but not set.
  6. Spray your disposable gloves generously with non-stick cooking spray.
  7. Scoop about 1/2 cup of the popcorn mixture into your gloved hand. Close your fingers around it gently and squeeze to form a hand shape with distinct fingers.
  8. Carefully place the shaped hand on your prepared baking sheet by gently opening your gloved hand and letting it slide onto the parchment.
  9. Repeat with the remaining popcorn mixture to make 6 to 8 hands.
  10. Let the hands set at room temperature for about 20 minutes, or in the fridge for 10 minutes, until firm to the touch.
  11. Dust the hands with powdered sugar using a fine-mesh strainer, focusing on the fingertips and palm for a ghostly effect.

Notes

Do not skip spraying the gloves with non-stick cooking spray, or the chocolate will stick. Let the chocolate cool slightly before shaping for better hold. Serve within a few hours for best texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Do not refrigerate.
